This began as a CMA challenge that involved what's called a "sample mutilation," which essentially allows the members to chop a sample anyway they choose as long as it is not a straight loop. There was over a dozen entries, and not one sounded the same.

One of my biggest influences early on was Daz from the Dogg Pound. I used to try to emulate his style back in the day when I first got my Motif. You can definitely hear the influence in the drums and the bassline.

Again, making music is closely aligned with my spirituality, and if I am left to my own devices, I always add elements that layer thought, feeling, and atmosphere into my joints. I didn't name this until after I made the song, because it sounds like finding an old church in the Halifax County, NC woods to me during a steamy summer. I don't know.....
